What is a Land Acknowledgement?A land acknowledgement is a formal protocol honoring the land and the Indigenous people who have been living and working on the land for thousands of years. Land acknowledgements remind us that colonialism and settler colonialism is an ongoing process and our continued work is to be mindful about how we participate and contribute to oppression. It is our intention to enter this work in a good way. We acknowledge the land in which we live, reside, and work as the traditional and unceded territory of the Kumeyaay nation. We pay respect to the Kumeyaay both past and present and their continuing relationship to their ancestral lands.
