The Abolitionist Teaching Network, founded by Bettina Love, is hosting a series of “Black History Month” focused workshops. Their workshop last week on Teaching for Black Lives was beautiful, and I hope you can make the following workshops! They are free or suggested donation. They are also not recorded and live only. January 28, 2021 Teaching Black History: A Time to Love on Us Black History Month is a time to celebrate, rejoice, and acknowledge how Black people have shaped the world. Celebrating Black History must begin with a love for Black people. This amazing panel will discuss what it means to teach Black History from the belief that you must love Black people to teach about Black people. February 4, 2021 Black Joy: A Celebration of Black Teaching Black educators build on a tradition of excellence, pride, and self-reliance - and we know that all students benefit from having a Black teacher. Unfortunately, too many Black educators find themselves over-taxed, under-supported, and isolated. Let’s celebrate and support us in a virtual space designed by Black Teachers Matter and Abolitionist Teaching Network. Who knows?
